Wealden District Council has set up a Covid-19 Community Hub for vulnerable people who need support to allow them to stay at home. If you are, or know someone who needs food, medical supplies or other support please register using our online form or call 01323 443322 and we will put you in contact with groups in the community and voluntary sector who can help.

Covid-19 Update

The Government’s plans to set up a ‘Hub and Shield’.  This is a partnership approach between local and national agencies to support those in our communities who are at the highest risk of severe illness (‘the clinically extremely vulnerable’) if they contract COVID-19 and therefore have been advised to isolate themselves (“shielding”) for a period of at least 12 weeks.

Work on this has been progressing over the last few days and more information can be found here:

27th March– Suspension of Garden Waste Collection Service

Due to staff sickness and self-isolation due to the Coronavirus outbreak, we regret to inform you  the Council and our waste contractor Biffa have taken the difficult decision to suspend garden waste collections.

This will begin on Monday 30 March and continue until at least Friday 24 April.  The suspension will be kept under review and we will continue to work with our waste contractor to reinstate this service as soon as possible.  We must do this in order to prioritise our waste and recycling collections. We hope you will understand this is unavoidable and in the best interests of public health in the unusual circumstances we all face.
