About Us

What is a Parish Council?

It is a statutory local authority set up under the Local Government Act 1972.
The name Chalvington with Ripe Parish Council is a little misleading as it covers the villages of Chalvington, Ripe and Deanland Wood. Elections to parish councils are held every four years. Chalvington with Ripe Parish Council has 7 councillors who meet regularly to make decisions on the work and direction of the council. Chalvington with Ripe Parish Councillors do not receive any salary but contribute a great deal of their time and energy to ensure the smooth running of the Parish.
